The role We currently have an excellent opportunity for Pre-Hospital andRetrieval Medicine Doctors to join the CareFlight team from March2024 to September 2024. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: provision of medical cover for CareFlight’s militarycontracts; undertaking medium and high acuity transfers within the NT,interstate and internationally, using fixed and rotary wingassets; delivering skilled critical care in the pre-hospital andinterhospital environment, including advanced airwaymanagement, with the ability to initiate and continuemanagement of complex medical, surgical, obstetric, paediatricand psychiatric emergencies; ensuring a high level of professionalism, safety andsecurity awareness in and around the aircraft, on the airfield,and by the roadside, and familiarisation with safetyregulations and procedures; maintaining good professional relationships with allrelevant parties and being able to work as part of amulti-disciplinary team involving multiple agencies involved inreferral, tasking, logistical and clinical management; good communication, both verbal and written; good time management; participating in the roster for Retrieval Services asrequired to ensure the proper functioning of the service;and participating in debriefs, handovers and teaching sessionswhere applicable. About you To be successful in this role you will: be a critical care trainee or Specialist, registered withone of the following colleges (or equivalent if from overseas):ACEM / CICM / ANZCA; have completed specialist training, or be a senior trainee,or a non-trainee with at least 4 years’ experience in acritical care specialty; possess high level airway skills; have previous retrieval experience; completed ALS and ATLS, EMST or equivalent; be physically fit and able to work at heights; be registered to practice in Australia (or be willing toundertake medical registration); completed CareFlight’s functionality assessment; be prepared to complete Helicopter Underwater EscapeTraining (HUET); and hold a current visa (if required).
